RESURC

The RESURC Project – Integrated Planning for the Development in a Climate-Sensitive Urban Region in Western China/Central Asia – RESILIENT Urumqi – is funded by Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the research programme Sustainable Development of Urban Regions. The project is currently at its definition phase (July 2019-December 2020) with a perspective of further funding for a four-year R&D phase followed by a two-year implementation stage.

Based on the FONA3 Research for Sustainable Development framework programme, the research programme Sustainable Development of Urban Regions pursues the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Federal Government’s Internationalisation Strategy and the New Urban Agenda. The funding measure aims to develop and test locally-adapted strategies for the sustainable development of urban regions and to encourage the strategies’ permanent implementation to improve ecological factors (emissions, energy and resources efficiency, etc.) and increase urban resilience.
